Looking for a personalized background for an eZ Flow site that is a composite of favorite pics from iPhoto.
A little poking around online, the consensus is Photoshop is the way to achieve this.
Since I do not have photoshop, decided to try to use built in tools in OS X Snow Leopard to do the same thing.
First Attempt
First thought was to export the photo's into a single folder, do an icon view, minimize text and spacing.
Playing with icon size and grid spacing, this was about as close as I could get. Not even close to the desired effect.
Next Attempt
- Opened a copy of the original graphic ../extension/ezflow/design/ezflow/images/page-bg.jpg to get pixel size for the image
- Screen captured my desktop within the same pixel constraints and saved it as the starting canvas
- Cover flow view of the contents of the images folder.
- Apple-Shift-F4 to clip screen portions from the cover flow views.
- Paste these clips into the desktop graphic and move them to desired locations.
A few dozen repetitions to achieve something similar to the desired effect.
Spend time to save money, money to save time.
No more than I would use Photoshop, figure this is actually less time than downloading, installing, paying, maintaining another app. Feel like I saved on both.
