eZ Publish Nomenclature

Dual meanings for single terms, and two different terms to describe the same concept, happens throughout the documentation. eZ are the only ones who can change this.

Examples..

Package or extension?

Is it a package, extension, or project, and where may it be downloaded? The inspiration is trying to figure out where to get the ezwebin themes for the 4.2 alpha version of eZ Publish. But can recall the same problem far too often when trying to figure out how to do something in eZ.

--http://packages.ez.no/ezpublish/4.2/4.2.0alpha1/ to download the ezwebin extensions is the answer for this specific question.

But on a larger note, what is the difference between packages and extensions? Or can there be packaged and unpackaged extensions? If I just want to download "them" whatever "them" may be, it would be helpful to know the terms that best describe my predicament.

Children or Sub Items?

Another example is Children or Sub items within folder structures. Which is it, or more accurately, why is it both? One or the other would be more meaningful and less confusing.

I cannot change either of these problems, only point them out. For this situation to change, eZ developers must make the decisions as to which of the multiple terms becomes the standard term, thus voiding much past documentation that uses the alternative term. Arghh
