1. Domain name acquisition.
2. Hosting provider that provides LAMP stack and ssh access.
3. Create a mysql or postgres database within the stack.
4. Upload latest ez to the hosting site.
5. Run the eZ install make note of passwords, set default packages, choose preferred design paradigm.
6. Login and start using eZ Publish, replacing default content with your own.

If you are using a Mac, and only want a local copy, start at step 3. Your own eZ Publish site on your mac is an easy way to get acclimated to eZ methods.
